Welcome to Fresh Pressed Books! A weekly blog series highlighting the newest book releases brewing their way onto my ever-growing TBR.

Tuesdays are my favorite day of the week because it’s the day new books officially hit the shelves. Thanks to New Book Tuesday posts from creators like The Dog-Eared Bookstore, Haley_rkn, and Tina TBR etc, keeping us informed, I’m able to stay on top of the newest releases without falling completely behind.

Since I already keep a running TBR list on my phone (and yes, it is gloriously out of control), I thought it would be fun to start tracking the newest books catching my attention as part of a weekly series here on the blog.

Disclaimer: Does my TBR already contain more books than I could realistically read in a lifetime? Possibly. Will that stop a determined Bookish Nana? Absolutely not.

In no particular order, here are the books newly added to my wishlist this week:

An English teacher receives a DNA test as a joke gift from her book club, but the surprising results lead her to re-examine her entire life. Sign me up.

Rival meteorologists + forced proximity = an immediate yes!

Auto-buy author. Hello!

Inspiring real-life memoir of a young man who went viral after admitting he didn’t know how to read. And now he’s a published author!

Female pirates? Hell yeah!

Because I can’t resist a good re-imagining.

A horror author who moves to New Jersey, and a masked killer offing PTA moms? This book promises gossip and gore, one body at a time. And I am HERE. FOR. IT. (Also, the cover is giving I Dream of Jeannie vibes.)

The title alone is enough to convince me that I NEED to read this book. 

A search and rescue expert, and a girl trapped in a basement. Can’t wait to read how this story unfolds.

Three mothers whose children attend the same elite school in Manhattan. A murdered child on a school trip. It’s giving rich people behaving badly with a side of murder. 

A woman’s best friend and surrogate disappears days before giving birth. I’m gonna need some popcorn with this one

Historical fiction novel set in 16th century Mexico. Enough said.

Peter Pan meets Lord of the Flies in the Colorado Rockies.

An artist living under a false identity in Ireland, hiding from a traumatic past.

For fans of The Bear. (That would be me.)

A young woman reunites with her wealthy estranged father in an idyllic lakeside community in Maine, where dark secrets and murder lurk. Is she really safe???

Historical fiction novel set in 1930s Jamaica, inspired by the real-life expedition of dancer and choreographer Katherine Dunham.

New Book Tuesday always feels a little like walking into a bookstore with fresh coffee in hand, except now I get to do it from the comfort of home. Being homebound and visually impaired means browsing physical shelves isn’t always possible anymore, but thankfully the digital book world makes discovery just as magical.

Instead of wandering aisles, I peruse apps. I start by checking Libby and Hoopla (via the LA County Library system) first for audiobooks, then exploring Everand, LibroFM, Audible, and Spotify. Different path, same joy: finding new stories waiting to be read/heard.

Now if only Hoopla would kindly reconsider that five-borrows-per-month situation.
